A pill that makes you lose weight automatically is a dream for many who are overweight. Today, there are three approved prescription diet pills that studies have shown have the best effects on weight loss. These three approved weight loss medications are Xenical, Sibutramine, and Acomplia

Xenical (orlistat)

The first of the three weight loss drugs was approved in the late 90s. Xenical tablets are taken three times daily with a meal. The active ingredient, orlistat, works by inhibiting the substance in the intestine (pancreatic lipase) that breaks down the fat in your diet to smaller parts (from triglycerides into free fatty acids) to be absorbed by the intestine.

The result is that more fat (about 30%) is unabsorbed, but exits the body in a natural way through excretion. This process causes a common side effect: diarrhea, if you eat large amounts of fat in your diet. The more fat contained in the diet, the worse the diarrhea can be and, therefore, a special diet regimen as well as increased physical activity are required.

Xenical is the best option for those who want to lose fat by using a reduced 1000-calorie diet. With the help of Xenical, you can lose up to 25 Lbs in a one-year treatment.

Today, Xenical is considered the best diet pill for losing weight in a healthy and effective manner. You can buy Xenical online

Reductil (sibutramine)

Reductil is a tablet that is taken once daily. It contains a substance,  found in standard antidepressant medications, which increases the amount of certain substances in the brain (serotonin, noradrenaline, dopamine). This, in turn, increases the activity of various neural pathways and significantly reduces appetite.

There are several conditions where Reductil cannot be used such as poorly controlled blood pressure or eating disorders. Common side effects include constipation, dry mouth, insomnia and hypertension (blood pressure should be monitored regularly during treatment).

The effect? Three months of treatment resulted on average in a 2.8 pound weight loss and a year of treatment in 10 lbs of extra weight gain compared to placebo pills, according to a review of all previous studies published in 2004.

Acomplia (ribonabant)

Acomplia is the newest medicine for weight loss that was approved in the summer of 2006 in Europe. It works by blocking a key part of the brain’s nervous system, the endocannabinoid system (curiously, the effect is roughly opposite to that of cannabis, marijuana).

Rimonabant reduces the desire for eating (and potentially all other systems managing sensuality). This can, as expected, cause the side effect of depression (in about 10% of patients) and suicidal thoughts (in about 1% of patients), and more commonly mild depressions, anxiety and sleep disturbances.
The reduced desire for eating leads to weight loss of an average of less than 13 lbs after one year compared to placebo pills.
